Memorising Tarot card meanings might seem a little overwhelming at first. I’m sure many people are put off learning the Tarot because they think they'll never remember the meanings of all the cards.
It’s quite a rational fear. I totally get it. What happens if you’re doing a Tarot card reading for someone and your mind goes blank? Well, you might worry that your client will think you’re not very professional.
And if you’ve ever picked up a Tarot card meanings book, you might feel even more overwhelmed…
Not only are there 78 Tarot card meanings to remember, but there are also hundreds of Tarot card combinations to commit to memory (in case that particular combination of cards jumps out of the Tarot deck when you’re with a client).
What’s the Easiest Way to Learn Tarot?
I have some good news for you. Actually, it might be bad news if you’ve been studying Tarot books for hundreds of hours…
Tarot, in its truest form, adapts through the ages.
By this, I mean that when it was first ‘invented’, it was used very differently from how it was used 100 years ago. The psyche of the people had obviously changed somewhat over the course of a few hundred years.
Subsequently, it follows that 100 years ago, Tarot cards were used very differently from how they are used today.
(and yes, there are still some people teaching the old ways and expecting them to work)
How to Learn Tarot Card Meanings Quickly
Here are 5 ways you can learn Tarot card meanings without feeling overwhelmed (or wasting lots of your precious time).
Learn Tarot card meanings tip 1:
First of all, buy yourself a notebook. Draw a card from the Tarot deck every single day. Just one card. In your notebook, write down the meaning of the Tarot card, along with any feelings and impressions you get.
Learn Tarot card meanings tip 2:
Learn the meanings of the Major Arcana Tarot cards first. They signify the major events in your clients’ lives so it’s good to get to grips with them.
Learn Tarot card meanings tip 3:
If you’re using Tarot card spreads, avoid the big, complicated ones. Stick to 3 card readings for now. At least once or twice a week, do a 3 card reading for yourself and one for someone else. If you’re one of my students, make sure you get to know the other people in the Facebook group. This way you can swap readings and help each other.
Learn Tarot card meanings tip 4:
Stay calm. If you’re worried about forgetting all the Tarot card meanings, you’ll be using your left brain a bit too much! Knowing the card meanings is important and builds a strong foundation as a Tarot card reader, but ultimately you’ll want to use your right brain more and more in readings - this is how you access your intuition.
Learn Tarot card meanings tip 5:
Sign up for my 6-week Tarot Masterclass. I teach a live Tarot class each week and you’ll learn my master system for learning all the Tarot card meanings easily. Plus you’ll learn how to use card spreads and how to move forward if you want to pursue a career as a professional Tarot card reader.
